Friends, Friday night Lanny Pawski passed away. He had been battling COPD for months and recently had contracted Meningitis. The many complications were just too much for him to recover from. Lanny was a dear friend and an invaluable part of our team. Please take a moment to view his obituary . I’m sure the family would very much appreciate any notes or flowers. The viewing will be held at Flanner & Buchanan (56th & Kessler) on Tuesday March 6th at 10am with the funeral to follow at noon. Lanny was dearly loved and will be missed by us all. – Gabe Draper

New Shift Supervisor

Austin Hall was recently promoted to Shift Supervisor. Austin is responsible for all second shift machining operations & quality. Austin attended Ivy Tech where he studied Advanced manufacturing and specialized in machining. He has been with the company for over a year.

Lanny Pawski was recently named VP of Logistics at Draper Manufacturing. Lanny is responsible for all non-manufacturing operations including shipping & receiving, purchasing, administration & budgeting. Lanny has helped build the company by streamlining the office operations simplifying the assembly operations and managing key vendor relationships. Lanny has been with the company for 5 years.

Gabe Hall was recently named VP of Manufacturing at Draper Manufacturing. Gabe has been with the company since its inception and is Draper Manufacturing’s most senior employee. He will be responsible for all the day to day manufacturing operations as well as long term planning & strategy.

Lean manufacturing or lean production, which is often known simply as “Lean“, is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. At Draper we are implementing an emphasis on Lean. We are eliminating any and all waste from paperwork to deliveries. This will result in higher quality parts with shorter and shorter lead times. If you have ideas on how we can eliminate waste from your perspective please let us know. We always value your input.

New Machine

New Machine! New Service! As of last week we now have a 6 Cubic foot RotoFinish automatic deburring machine. The RotoFinish will help us provide a uniform finish and smooth edges to our machined parts. We now offer production deburring for your parts as well. We have a variety of media to handle plastics, aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel and other materials. We can also offer metal polishing using the RotoFinish. Before we purchased the machine we would spend a lot of time doing hand work to eliminate burrs, edges and chips; now it is automatically done with just a little oversight. The machine also has a wash / rinse function that produces a smooth clean part on most applications. Let us know if this service can add value to your product.

2009 Annual Golf Outing

Yes, it’s time for our golf outing and our staff and board of directors would like for you to join us! On Friday, August 14th, we will return to Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, IN and begin with lunch prior to the 1:00 shot gun start.

Registration will begin at 11:30am and we will serve lunch at noon. Yard sticks and door prize tickets will be available at the registration table. All door prizes and awards will be distributed after the final group has finished.
